On Saturday, 16th August, 200 people arrived at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards in Franschhoek to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Cape Leopard Trust, and all with the full intention of raising as much money as possible for the trust on that day.

Opulent Living Experiences, headed up by Florian Gast and Barbara Lenhard, had coordinated a 3 course lunch featuring celebrity chefs from three renowned Cape Town restaurants, MCs, guest chefs in the form of Liezel van der Westhuizen and Braam Malherbe, entertainment by Blackbyrd and also a host of unique auction items that managed to raise a total of R591 712 (including the proceeds of the ticket sales) for this worthy cause.

Dr Quinton Martins, CEO of the Cape Leopard Trust, said in appreciation, “We were delighted with the turnout and overwhelmed by the incredible support on the day. The Trust attempts to minimize its administrative burden while finding innovative ways of maximizing the use of resources. The funds raised on the day will play a significant role in the project’s development and future.”

“Leopard’s Leap has been a proud sponsor of the trust since its inception and we couldn’t be happier with how this event turned out.We look forward to seeing what a difference this amount of money will make to the trust and the endangered Cape Leopard,” said Hein Koegelenberg, CEO of Leopard’s Leap.

Other generous sponsors on the day were FNB, Mercedes Benz, Cennergi, and the celebrities there included MCs Ian and Elana Bredenkamp, and chefs Pieter de Jager (Leopard’s Leap), Neil Jewell (Môreson), and Vanessa Marx (Dear Me).

About Leopard's Leap

Leopard’s Leap was conceptualised at the turn of the century by winemaker and businessman Hein Koegelenberg, with guidance from his late father in law, internationally renowned industrial leader Dr. Anton Rupert. Following its formidable success as a wine producer during the first decade, a decision was made in 2011 to broaden the horizons and, at the same time, create a home where visitors can get close to the values of the Leopard’s Leap brand and experience the Leopard’s Leap identity and principal passions – wine, food, conservation and literature.
